| About the Glenview
Glenview
is a fine example of traditional croft architecture. It was originally
built around 1900 by a local merchant as a home and village shop and
used as such for many years. The local "bodachs" (old men) still
remember when, as boys, they helped bring up the supplies landed by the
Glasgow steamer in the bay below the Hotel.
Glenview’s positioning between Skye’s largest town of Portree and Uig,
the ferry port to North Uist and Harris, at the north of the island
provides the perfect base from which to explore Skye. Our proximity to
Uig is ideal for those visitors who wish to experience another Scottish
Isle with day trips to Harris an opportunity not to be missed. We are
happy to provide an early ferry breakfast for those travelling on
through Uig to explore further the Outer Isles.
Inside, The Glenview is both comfortable and relaxed. We have a guest
lounge with a wood fire providing the perfect place to unwind with a
book, play games or simply sit back with a pre-dinner drink which might
include a local whisky.
We welcome all guests whatever your activity or interests and will
endeavour to help where we can to make your experience on Skye
unforgettable.
